No, no, no. This Bill is not an improvement and does not reduce redundancies. It's gutting protections for species at risk! This bill in particular:
- isn’t set up to protect and recover species
- eschews science
- redefines habitat to narrowly cover like dens and nests which is absolutely not regarding the realities of nature
- makes the adding and removing of species discretionary
- removes federally listed aquatic species and migratory birds from protections provincially
- allows activities to go ahead as long as they are registered, proponents’ needs and speed replace species needs
- projects go ahead by default
This Bill will destroy our natural world and push species to extinction faster.
