The proposal to merge the LRCA with the Huron Conservation area makes no sense. These areas are over 1,000km apart. Each with unique characteristics that require a local presence and representation.
Northern Ontario should not be treated as just an afterthought for southern Ontario. So much focus (and funding) remains on southern Ontario. This merger will only benefit the Huron area. The LRCA has done wonderful work here in and around the Thunder Bay area. It would be a disgrace if this merger is allowed.
