Conservation authorities were formed through consent from participating municipalities. This has been a core principle of the conservation authority act. This is the same for changes in boundary and dissolution. They are main funders of ca’s through property taxes. Read more

Do not consolidate the conservation authorities. Each CA is divided by watershed for a reason. There are many nuances and environmental concerns that were weighed when these CAs were originally delineated. Read more

I am 100% against amalgamation of local conservation authorities into large regional ones. Local people know what is best for our conversation areas. I noticed that in the proposal there are multiple conservation authorities for the GTA, and barely any for the rest of Ontario. Read more

If the issue is related to these matters in the notice (below), the province could resolve it thru standardizing processing without the disruption that reorganization causes and without creating a new bureaucracy. Read more

This is not a good idea. The proposed regional authorities are way too big, the idea of consolidating all of these Conservation Authorities (CAs) is ridiculous. Reviews of applications take time for a reason and should not be amended just to fulfill the Conservative governments "housing promise". Read more

Conservation authorities were created to protect communities from short-sighted development. Centralizing them under a provincial housing agenda risks turning the floodplain watchdog into a permitting office. Read more

Reducing the number of CA’s will only serve to undermine the protection of our local habitats. They are not there to streamline permits for developers, builders and farmers. They are there to protect the health of our environment on which our health depends. .

I do not think that we should be consolidating our conservative authorities at all. It feels dangerous and makes me think this is not in the best interest of wildlife or citizens of Ontario. Please stop this. Read more

The idea of amalgamating 36 conservation authorities into 7 is absolutely ludicrous. There is no way that 7 offices can properly service all of the regions in Ontario. When you travel all across Ontario you can see how big and diverse it is. Read more

Consolidating 36 conservation areas down to 7?! This is certainly not a responsible move at all. What is really going on? This will leave the majority of our provincial lands and wild life unmonitored and unprotected from industry and unprotected from disasters both potential and experienced. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed boundary changes and consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. These changes are not administrative improvements — they are a direct threat to Ontario’s natural heritage, wetlands, and endangered species. Read more

We need.a strong number protecting our watersheds. This province is surrounded by lakes. Our water is our most important resource. Donald Trump wants to steal our water, we need to protect it. The government of Ontario is out of line and abusing their power. We need MORE conservationists not less. Read more

I am immensely concerned with these proposed consolidation changes. This appears driven to remove “uncertainty and delays for builders”. There is no data that a change of this sort will result in better outcomes for the conservation areas and the environment. Read more

I am opposed to the consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities. I strongly believe that this will result in reduced protections for our watersheds and increased risk of flooding, infrastructure damage, habitat loss, and impact on human communities. Read more
