I strongly oppose the proposed legislation to privatize Ontario’s water supply. As an Ontario resident for over 40 years, I remember the Walkerton tragedy, and if this is allowed to proceed, the same will happen again and people will die. This is not hyperbolic. People died after doing nothing more than drinking water.
Furthermore, this bill will continue to raise the cost of living for Ontarians. I thought this government was in favour of putting money back into the pockets of hardworking Ontarians, but it appears the opposite is true.
Clean, safe, affordable drinking water is a basic human right - not a luxury. It should stay that way.
