I deeply oppose Bill 60, especially prohibiting vehicle lane reduction for the construction of new bike lanes. This is short-sighted, bad for the environment and bad for congestion. All the research on this topic, general common sense and high school physics indicates that the only way to give cars more room in confined, urban spaces is to get people out of cars! If we make it safer for people to bike or easier for people to take transit (faster service in designated transit lanes) then there will be less cars and less traffic. It will never be comfortable to drive in an urban area without a reduction of vehicular traffic. It’s insane that we try to pretend this is even a possibility.
