I strongly object to the proposed legislation to prohibit reducing vehicle lanes in order to put in bicycle lanes. Vehicles already use the vast majority of road space. Reducing vehicle lanes to allow for safe, efficient cycling infrastructure may be the best choice for communities looking to increase mode share for active, sustainable transportation. Decreasing private vehicle use and increasing active transportation is a key way communities can act to mitigate climate change. Furthermore, these are community decisions that the province has no business imposing its will on.
