Bill 60 like Bill 212 before it is retrograde policy as it applies to mobility in the province and specifically the cities of Ontario. As study after study demonstrate adding more and more roads only increases vehicular congestion. Major cities around the world have all come to realize that the only way to manage congestion is through congestion taxes along with providing improved transit and alternate means of travel central to which is safe cycling infrastructure. Bill 60 is a shameless play to a suburban constituency terrified of anything that doesn’t support the status quo. The Eglinton LRT sits empty, carbon emission targets are no longer discussed, car drivers are being pitted against the most vulnerable of citizens. Cars are not the answer to every question! Particularly where building human scaled cities are concerned.

Further, omnibus bills are deeply problematic. Proposed changes in policy must be challenged on their own merits not hidden in a great wave of sludge as is the case with Bill 60. Rescind bill 60!!!!
