The best way to fight delays is to truly understand the problem.
In the case of bike lanes - I suggest that every politician and city employee involved in making bike lane decisions and those suggesting that they not be made - should pedal ride a non electric bicycle through the proposed streets during rush hour at least ten times in varied weather conditions.
They wouldn’t have to ride fast. They would just have to ride with traffic. This would give them a glimpse of the issue from a ground level perspective. To maintain this perspective - all politicians could have to do this every year so they are up to date with first hand experience.
