In my opinion, the bike lanes actually help with traffic congestion and long commute times.
Riding a bike is a healthy form of exercise and the people on bikes are not in cars, filling the air with pollution. Bikes take up much less space than a car and so allow many more people to travel to their destination in a much smaller space. Bike lanes provide safety, both to those on the bikes and those in cars not trying to dodge riders who are looking for safe spaces.
Bike lanes are a good idea and cost effective.
It is the height of foolishness to rip them out--and a waste of my tax payer dollars.
