This proposal states that these changes are to improve the conservation authority (CA) system to free up resources for front-line service delivery to help protect communities and better align the work of CAs with provincial priorities by reducing the number of CA’s from 36 to 7!
There is no way in the world that their goal can be achieved by reducing the number of CA’s.
I believe the current system of 36 is working well, and that each Conservation Authority knows their Watersheds and is already providing excellent service and delivery of programs and our protecting our communities now.
As a farmer, I have had superior service from my Conservation Authority and I know that they are doing their best with limited resources and protecting my community and improving the natural environment and protecting our rivers and lakes.
I don’t understand why there’s a need to change.
I am not in favour of the proposed changes. In fact, what would work better would be for the province to sufficiently fund our Conservation Authorities so that they can do an even better job for Ontario.
I know that the Conservation authorities in my area work well together, and have a good networking relationship.
