I think this is a thinly-veiled attempt to take away vital conservation work being done in this province. I think it's an interesting choice to openly advertise that this is being done in the name of "prioritizing housing, economy and infrastucture". To me, this is a continuation of the Ford government's attack on the environment in the name of "the economy" and "development". The damage you do when you take away conservation land and pave highways over it is IRREVERSIBLE. IT CANNOT BE UNDONE!!!! What we lose when you take away the conservation powers of the authorites over their land, areas housing vital nature, is something that would take generations to get back, if there is ever a generation again who regains their sanity.
I've worked for one of the conservation authorities you're trying to disband for 4 years. I don't think the government considers anything other than paving where ever and whenever they please when they come up with idiotic plans like this one.
I don't need to tell you that this will uproot all conservation efforts and set them back years. I don't need to tell you this will send this sector into complete chaos. I don't need to tell you how much damage this will cause. BECAUSE THAT IS YOUR GOAL. THAT IS THE POINT OF DOING THIS. THERE IS 0 BENEFIT TO THE ENVIRONMENT OR CONSERVATION OR THE EFFICIENCY WITH WHICH THOSE THINGS ARE TAKEN CARE OF. THIS WILL ONLY BENEFIT THOSE WHO'S RECKLESS BUILDING PLANS ARE STOPPED BY THE CONSERVATION AUTHORITIES POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
Whoever proposed this should be ashamed. Anyone who is in favour should be ashamed.
Good day
