The written description of the boundaries and the map do not match. For example, Cataraqui watershed is described as being in Eastern Lake Ontario region but the map puts it in the St Lawrence region. This does nothing to improve public confidence in the ability of the provincial government to oversee conservation authorities in the manner proposed. Local detailed knowledge is essential for proper application of science. The centralization proposed by the Ford government will lead to the increased politicization of decision making over decisions based on sound science. Concerns are compounded by the track record of some provincial governments on cronyism and self-dealing.
