There's no reason to consolidate the conservation authorities. This government's interference with the Greenbelt and its eagerness to ease development in environmentally sensitive and agriculturally valuable lands, as well as it's intention to remove land from Wasaga provincial park show theres no commitment to protecting Ontario's environment. I dont believe the promise that amalgamation won't change the role of the conservation authorities. Instead, it will likely lead to fewer services and provide an excuse to cut them out entirely. Tourism at conservation areas bring much needed revenue to communities. Building more high-end housing does nothing to solve our affordability crisis, but does continuing this government's legacy of favoring the interests of the Premier's friends and donors.
