The amalgamation of the conservation authorities reduces their local and unique impact. By expanding the boundaries, local individuality of the conservation areas will be managed more broadly impacting species that thrive in specified niches. Regional oversight will also result in job loss due to ‘overlap’ of duties within the jurisdiction which will result in the loss of knowledge specific to the area and the relationships formed by these staff members with the community and stakeholders.
