I fully support the position of the LRCA (Lakehead Region Conservation Authority)’s Board of Directors for the government to: rescind the proposed regional Huron-Superior boundary; maintain a local, independent, municipally governed, watershed-based conservation authority; and create a stand-alone northwestern Ontario authority. This, especially given that surrounding municipalities are the ones who currently fund about half of the LRCA’s operations, compared to about five per cent from the province, with the local ratepayers contributing our fair portion of user fees.
