The consolidation of conservation authorities from 36 into 7 is not a well thought out idea and it will cost way more and rural areas that benefit from their services will be negatively impacted.

The added bureaucracy will limit the ability of authorities to get their important work done with no benefit. It is not plausible to have boats with 80 members so the local areas, for which CAs were created, will lose their voices.

There are much better ways to address the perceived issues. The new OPCA can provide the direction, online permitting and technical guidance (that CAs have been asking for for a decade) and create the requirements and CAs can meet the targets.
