I believe the amalgamation of our Conservation Authorities will harm their abilities to do their work and protect our watersheds and natural features. The current boundaries of Ontario's Conservation Authorities are drawn along the boundaries of our watersheds, allowing for local expert knowledge to be used to best serve each area. By redrawing and amalgamating so many of these lines this knowledge will be fractured and diluted, leading to less effective work and ultimately harming people and ecosystems. Our Conservation Authorities perform immensely important work, and must retain their local knowledge bases and powers. I oppose this consolidation.
