I fundamentally disagree with the amalgamation of conservation authorities. Individual conservation authorities are in the best positions to make decisions about the area under their jurisdiction.
The process of amalgamation under a new provincial agency is an overreach of authority by the province infringing on municipalities areas of responsibility. It will create more bureaucracy - not less!
I am of the opinion that this step by the province is more about control of greenbelt spaces and opening them up to development than environmental protection!
