I do not agree with lowering the number of conservation authorities. Our geography is too varied and the province is too large to have only a few provide adequate services. We’ve seen this in Parry Sound when the fisheries head office moved to Owen Sound leaving us with less resources and people to manage our side of the Bay’s needs. As in education and healthcare, creating large physical regions governed by authorities that don’t understand the local needs has led both these sectors to become dysfunctional. Don’t do the same to critical environmental agencies.
