Insuffiicient evidence has been presented to the public by the government to justify the consolidation of the conservation authorities. Where is the cost benefit analysis to support such a drastic change?
"improving the province’s conservation authority system to help get shovels in the ground faster on homes and other local infrastructure projects, while strengthening the vital role Conservation Authorities play in managing watersheds and protecting communities from floods and natural hazards” does not appear to promote environmental conservation and prudent watershed management particularly as more severe weather events are negatively impacting our environment. Before appropriating more land for houses outside of communities, the under utilized land within municipalities should be prioritized.
