As a resident of the city of Hamilton, I am very concerned that our local knowledge of the various watersheds will be diminished should amalgamation proceed into regional bodies.
The cost and chaos of this exercise seems unnecessary and will result in longer delays in permits being issued.
Why is watershed planning viewed as an issue?! We can’t build in floodplains for insurance purposes. There’s better lands to target. Stop trying to pave over paradise!

But in all honesty, 25 years post amalgamation in Hamilton and it’s still fractured as a municipality-it’ll take generations to get these super regional conservation authorities functioning.

Where did this idea come from? Legislate timelines, give resources, improve tech, create standardized requirements, but don’t change the admin structure.

This will be detrimental to permit timelines for the foreseeable future, and will cost a fortune. For a conservative government, you folks sure are not fiscally responsible.
