Locally based decision-making and accountability is important for Conservation! The reason for this amalgamation has not been justified. The HCA is one of the Hamilton City Depts with a positive track record of responsiveness and success. It is comprised of passionate individuals who live near the trails they maintain. The creation of less localized authorities would only make responses to local issues worse. It is yet another cut back affecting our quality of life and threatening our natural heritage. It has been noted in the past that amalgamation does not always do good but rather harm our communities, stripping the identity of our communities and having its services stretched thin, creating less funding and possibly leading to neglect of our community spaces and natural heritage.
