I'm writing to express my opposition to include the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority into the proposed Huron Superior Conservation
Authority.
There was no rationale given for combining two bodies that are 1000 miles apart and have no connection to each other. The local authority can respond immediately to changing weather conditions that may impact local residents quickly and can monitor situations as the develop. They also are able to make plans based on observing local conditions, current and future needs and in Co operation with other local partners. I don't feel that this can be done effectively from a bureaucracy located so far away.
While I understand the value of amalgamating some of the regions especially in the Southern Ontario region where many are close together, to lump the Lakehead Region Authority in with one of them seems like a lack of understanding once again of the distance and uniqueness of the northern part of the province.
