I am against the proposed amalgamation of Conservation Authorities. I believe that it is not in the best interests of the environment to take away local authority. Furthermore from my research it seems it is not necessary to make this change for financial, efficiency or governance reasons. I have never had any issue with any of my dealings with the Hamilton Conservation Authority. The present boundaries reflect watersheds - an effective focus for environmental stewardship of our land. I fear that your proposed changes will have a detrimental and perhaps permanent effect on the protection of lands set aside for conservation by allowing development to take away protected land.
