I staunchly oppose the proposed changes in the strongest possible terms.
Ontario’s conservation authorities were created for good reason, after lives were lost in a tragic hurricane. As severe weather events become more frequent and intense, municipalities rely on conservation authorities to guide their planning and to save lives. Local conservation authorities work at the watershed level, not at arbitrarily drawn political lines. The important local knowledge that conservation authorities hold about the specific watersheds in which they operate cannot be overstated. Merging the conservation authorities will cause the loss of this knowledge, and will result in irreparable harm to the natural environment that is so precious to Ontario.
Once again, I oppose this change in the STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS and urge you to withdraw it immediately.
