I am unsure how consolidating unique watersheds with conservation authorities that are local and have local knowledge would be helpful.
I live in the RVCA area and found them to be very helpful when I had permitting questions. I appreciated talking to someone local who knew the area and was able to understand the environment.
I think maintaining local offices, management, staff, and programs should be prioritized in any consolidation
If this goes through I hope that each conservation authority will be given discretion in leaving beloved programs running. For example, RVCA runs a fabulous forest school that is teaching an entire generation to appreciate and prioritize or stewardship of the environment. Programs like this should be expanded to other areas instead of being shuttered in the existing locations.
Please, if this goes through, do not remove these essential enrichment programs.
