This bill will undo years of conservation in Ontario. Each conservation authority is an expert in its associated unique environment. They know things that larger unfocussed organizations will not. Each authority has built relationships with landowners, conservation organizations, and municipalities in their region. This loss of knowledge, experience, cooperation and focus will result in loss of habitat, species, potentially cause property damage, etc.
Allowing the government to control fewer conservation agencies is a recipe for disaster! Point in fact is the current issue with raw waste being dumped into Lake Ontario to save developers money, the Green Belt scandal, etc. The current Ontario government has been a case study in why the proposed bill 68 is unacceptable. The cat cannot be expected to watch the canary!
Listen to the scientists and other experts not dollar driven politicians who no longer work for a healthy future of our province.
