Ontario has divided its Ecozones into 14 Ecoregions, which are in turn subdivided into Ecodistricts, then Ecosections, then Ecosites, then Ecoelements. These divisions are based on unique climate, demographics, watersheds and more. Attempting to shoehorn all these into a "one size fits all" regulatory framework that seems expressly designed to allow a government to stack regulatory bodies to the detriment of the public interest is a recipe for environmental destruction.

Given the questionable ethical behaviour of this government with respect to privatizing our public heritage, there is no reason to believe this initiative is anything more than another raid on the birthright of all Ontario residents and generations yet to come in order to enrich friends of the current majority government. The Conservation Authorities have different approaches to fulfilling their responsibilities for very good reasons. This so-called "streamlining", which allows for manipulation of regulatory agencies to the detriment of the environment and the public interest, must not be allowed.
