Comment
Attached are the Township of Huron-Kinloss' comments regarding the proposed consolidated boundaries and board makeup of Ontario's conservation authorities.
The Comments focus on the Township's concerns in Key areas such as:
Preserving a rural, agricultural focus for decision making,
appropriate municipal representation and ensuring local assets, stay within local control,
ensuring local service delivery, and accessibility,
ensuring that proposed changes do not result in additional red-tape or costs to municipalities,
ensuring collaboration and engagement opportunities continue.
Additional information is provided on the Healthy Lake Huron Program. The Healthy Lake Huron Program - Clean Water, Clean Beaches, is a concerted effort to address nuisance algae concerns and to promote safe and clean beaches and shorelines from Sarnia to Tobermory. The program is an existing collaborative effort involving, the Canada Water Agency, the Ontario Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, five Conservation Authorities, local Counties, Municipalities and Towns, the local Health Units, local landowners and conservation groups. The Township seeks consideration for this map area as a potential alternative in a new Lake Huron Regional Conservation Authority, within proposed amalgamation plans.
