I am concerned this consolidation will result in slower approvals as boards could be 70 plus people under current rules and the new conservation areas will too large in area for local knowledge of watersheds which is important for making informed decisions regarding planning approvals. A smaller board will remove municipal oversight and could lead to corruption. There is no expansion of Conservation Authorities either in Northern or Eastern Ontario. I have concerns that a larger area will delay mapping of watersheds especially at a river level as well as development approvals as the boundary changes will result in new processes being implemented that may not have been needed in existing Conservation Authorities. I also agree with the Canadian Environmental Law Association
