I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority's submission to the ERO (#025-1257). I am very concerned about losing local decision-making in our watershed and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. It is imperative that conservation authority staff are part of the local decision-making process as it relates to hazard lands and the natural heritage system. In order for municipalities to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment for the long-term, an over-arching provincial policy goal, they require the expertise of conservation authority staff at the local watershed level. Please reconsider your plans for consolidation of our conservation authorities.
