The Ontario government has already fallen far short of the goals set out over a decade ago in the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan. Lake Simcoe—and the surrounding watershed—is unique in southern Ontario for its proximity to Toronto and smaller cities and its vulnerability to development and pollution. Placing it within a much larger conservation area can only dilute existing protections. I oppose this change, as do many cottagers, local residents, and recreational users.
