This change would significantly impact how all local watershed programs, services, and decision-making are delivered across small communities. This change to a corporate set up is not needed.
Conservation authorities are one of Ontario’s best tools for balancing the province’s urgent housing needs with watershed protection and climate resilience. Watershed decisions should be based on science, geography, and local hydrology, not on overly large administrative boundaries. The proposed consolidated regions are too large to remain effective and responsive to effectively operate and cater to the needs of small local issues.
There's not enough game wardens now. Consolidation into larger areas for the already stretched thin ranks doesn't help balance any of these systems.
The current administrations track record speaks to the destruction of nature we need in favor of development we do not. This will end up no different if these changes are instituted. I'm against said changes
