I am very concerned that the amalgamation of all 36 of our Conservation Authorities into just 7 large regional bodies will compromise communication with, and accountability to, affected local communities and residents; and that exposure to hazards including flooding will be increased by this decision. Amalgamation should not be necessary to secure improved uniformity, responsiveness, and predictability for stakeholders. Freeing resources for front-line service delivery may be ineffective if those resources cannot be effectively locally managed.
