To whom it may concern,

The amalgamation of the SSMRCA would undermine the strength of a system that works precisely because it is local, independent, and deeply connected to the land and community it serves.

Our community is extremely passionate about providing and encouraging access to the outdoors and supporting educational and recreational opportunities. Our ski, bike, and hiking trails rely on this conservation land - their access and long-term sustainability depend on dedicated, responsive, and accountable local oversight by people who understand the unique environmental, recreational, and cultural value of our area.

These are aspects that would be underestimated and overlooked if amalgamated into an umbrella management of “northeastern Ontario”. A larger, amalgamated authority risks diluting local priorities, slowing decision-making, and shifting focus away from the needs of our users who depend on this land year-round.

Sincerely,
A skier, biker, runner, hiker, passionate volunteer for athletic programs, environmental advocate, and person who visits the SSMRCA mutiple times a week.
