The Town of Oakville has spent years developing a plan, OPA70, to meet the provinces density targets and it balances the needs of our community with the need to provide housing for growth. The TOC plan calls for extreme density that won't deliver any new housing until 2031 at the earliest. OPA70 is ready to go and development can get started immediately. The TOC plan does not create a neighbourhood, it creates warehouses for people. The province needs to respect the Town of Oakville's planning work that creates a livable neighbourhood and it meets the provincial density targets. We're not saying "Not in my backyard", we agree that there needs to be development but it needs to be in keeping with our community and not mega-density.
