This proposal seems to be extremely retrograde and short-sighted. Green belts are lungs for the city. It's vital to maintain them and very foolish to destroy them for short-term gain. This has no respect either for people who currently live near green belts or for those who will have to travel even further to benefit. But the benefits are not only direct, they are indirect. Maintaining the green belt preserves vital land for reduced use, reduces emissions, allows for trees and vegetation than replenish those lost in urban areas.
