Thank goodness that the city of Cambridge and neighbouring municipalities have had the good sense to opt out of this bill! It could do great harm! I am very much opposed to Bill 66, in particular the changes in Schedules 5 and 10 that would weaken or even remove our current protection on water, wild life and agricultural lands. In Waterloo region we have been affected by a number of events that have affected our water and soil, with the contamination in Elmira, General Tower and North Star to name just a few. In Walkerton, people died because of water contamination. Taking away oversight of our water supply, allowing building on Greenbelt lands, both of these acts make further environmental catastrophes entirely more likely! Please do not pass this bill!
