The Open for Business planning tool is not necessary in order to allow business to flourish in our province. We already have a strong economy, and placing the business interests and sprawling residential development. The regulations protecting our environment have often been brought in for a reason. Most notably, source water protection plans, which were recommended after regulations on safe drinking water proved to not be enough to prevent the deaths of six people, and the illness of thousands. If we allow municipalities to let business circumvent such important environmental regulations for the sake of economic development, we are putting the health and safety of Ontario's greatest assets (our people) at risk. Economic development is currently progressing well in Ontario, and the Open For Business changes, and how they will compromise the planning act are superfluous and not needed to expedite development in our cities and towns.
