I oppose the proposed changes because the existing legislation has an essential role in ensuring the monitoring, regulation and reporting on the sources of toxins and pollutants that pose a significant risk to human and environmental health in Ontario. We can only manage what we know. If we remove reporting then we remove the ability to responsibly manage health and environmental risks associated with toxins.
I also oppose the proposed changes because the rules, requirements and exemptions proposed appear to be complicated and will create many different routes/criteria for exemption that may be difficult for smaller businesses to navigate and will require significant government resources to implement and manage.
