I do NOT support omnibus…

I do NOT support omnibus Bill 66 for, but not limited to, the following reasons:
1. - the Education Act increase in # of children under 2 years of age risks repeats of the horrific deaths in recent years;
2. - Environment, Conservation and Parks thwarts the protections put in place over the decades - conservation authorities were created following the 1954 Hurricane Hazel and with climate change we need to improve this protection instead of compromising it;
3. - generally I am very concerned about ANY amendment and repeal that jeopardizes
A) safe drinking water - we can NOT have another Walkerton tragedy, and
B) protection of our water sources (including the quantity available due to bottled water licences) in the Greenbelt, Oak Ridges Moraine as well as the Great Lakes since our communities get their water from wells, rivers and the Great Lakes,
4. - negative impact on sustainability of communities with reductions in the current intensification targets - urban sprawl thwarts public transit, including higher order, and is much more expensive to provide and maintain infrastructure for;
5. - quality of life in our communities and in the Province - respect for the community informed Official and Secondary plans, and primacy under the new Tribunal for adhering to those; respect for the community designated and identified heritage buildings, districts and cultural landscapes for people scale, and environmentally friendly reuse.
6. - natural areas in proximity to the Golden Horseshoe for access by all, retention of local agriculture and a natural sponge to absorb the extremes of rainfall and run-off we are increasingly seeing. Once this land is gone, it is gone.
Please respect the people/taxpayers and STOP Bill 66.
