This provision which would allow municipalities who receive proposals from businesses with 50 jobs in municipalities with a population of less than 250,000 people, or 100 jobs in municipalities with a population of more than 250,000 people, to do whatever they wanted regardless of whether these proposals would endanger the health and safety of their citizens. This would include jeopardizing safe drinking water requirements and threatening farmland across Ontario - putting our food sources at risk.
And would leave Ontarians with no ability to intervene.
Have we learned nothing from Walkerton? Are we willing to go down the road where thousands of Ontarians become sick - and some die as a result of water contamination?
These are not acceptable scenarios for the people of Ontario and their children and completely undemocratic.
The provisions must be withdrawn immediately and removed.
