The Township of Amaranth has just finished updating their existing Asset Management Plan, at considerable cost to their taxpayers. We are a small rural municipality and are concerned with the prospect of starting the process over to meet the new criteria.
We have limited staff and resources and feel our current plan meets our needs. There will be duplication of our municipal budgeting process and forecasting needs.
The expanded requirement for service level analysis and lifecycle costing models for every asset owned and operated will also add major costs and strain our current resources.
We will be required to hire one or more licensed engineers to approve the plan, adding unnecessary costs.
Major financial support will be required to aid in the process and the Provincial Government will need to provide funding.
We support the comments made on the municipality's behalf by AMO and ROMA and request that all our concerns be addressed appropriately.
