Nuclear power is too dangerous a source of power. If you insist on using it, extreme precautions must be put in place to protect the environment and life that surround this unsafe power. It has the potential, if mishandled in even the smallest manner, to kill tremendous amounts of life immediately, and for decades to come, from the aftermath. The safety of nuclear power depends upon human diligence, and humans are prone to error as is natural. Precautions, safety measures... you cannot implement enough to seriously protect us, you cannot even dispose of the waste from nuclear power safely in the environment. To keep the public safe you must foresee the inevitable and prevent that, and still it will not be enough. Do everything you can, put every precaution you know of in place, for it is a start. Close down old structures, rebuild and repair the newer ones. Do not build any more nuclear reactors as we have enough to concern ourselves and our budgets with as it is. No matter what you do, this is not a safe, clean energy source when it's waste is so dangerous, toxic and dirty, and the harnessing of its power so extremely unsafe, unstable, toxic and deadly. The only true safety precaution is avoidance of use of nuclear power at all.
