I urge the Minister to develop a long-term plan to phase out nuclear energy and replace it with clean, safe, renewable energy and conservation. Nuclear plants are extremely expensive to build, upgrade, maintain, contain and decommission.
These plants and waste they they generate are highly dangerous for people and poisonous for our already degrading environment. The industry is highly subsidized in many ways, and those subsidies are hidden from the public and media, which skews economic and environment analysis and comparisons to cleaner, safer, renewable and sustainable forms of power generation. These are reasons why few new plants are being financed and built worldwide, and phased out in leading countries such as Germany. Nuclear power is like an addition to poisonous and lethal drugs; we must rid our society of it to create a better energy system for future generations. Please make the sensible decision to get rid of all, hazardous, nuclear plants over the medium-to-long term.
