Keeping the Pickering and Darlington Nuclear plants running is putting millions of us at risk. Just because there has not been a major accident here does not mean it cannot still happen. Such an event would be a nightmare of unprecedented proportions: Major population centres would have to be evacuated at short notice and we would all be at risk from radiation exposure. Try to imagine such a scenario and ask yourself if you really want to be responsible. The only sane thing to do is to phase out nuclear energy and instead use renewables and hydro power from Quebec. These options are also much cheaper so should eventually lead to the added benefit of lower hydro bills.
