Conservation Authorities need to maintain the ability to regulate development on waterways and floodplains. Developers are not concerned with water quality, sediment control or protecting riparian and wetland habitats. It is the CA's job to make sure these places are protected for the betterment of the environment. With these environments protected (through regulation and permitting), the CAs can help to reduce the impact of the increased threats of flooding.
