I am appalled to hear about the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This act has been instrumental in protecting species from population decline due to development. It is unacceptable that the government is proposing to allow companies to pay a fee to circumvent these protections - essentially putting a price on biodiversity. I want the government to support the protection of endangered species - a cause more noble than its fixation on buck-a-beer and tailgating.
