As an Ontario citizen I recognize that the Conservation Authorities and legislation are important to the well being of Ontario. Putting limits on building and protecting natural infrastructure, restoring floodplains/wetlands/natural areas on a watershed business NEEDS to be recognized by the Ontario Government as paramount for the future protection of Ontario, our properties and our water. Failing to protect these in the long term will be bad for businesses and bad for the people of Ontario.
We request that Ontario continues to
1. Manage natural hazards and floodplains on a watershed basis
2. Continue and increase funding for Conservation Authorities and related funding for tree planting, wetland and stream restoration, green infrastructure and climate mitigation
In short. The changes to the legislation will put the public safety at risk and is short sighted due to the long term fiscal issues that we will face in the future because of the changes and this is not acceptable.
