Planning for housing should be at the Municipal level and conform to local zoning and bylaws . Provincial government in partnership with the federal government should be providing MONEY to municipalities for affordable housing. The Ontario Provincial governments should not interfere with local municipal planning. Hands off!
The Ontario provincial Places to Grow Act should remove growth areas that have been built up beyond the capacity of the local infrastructure. i.e., Yonge and Eglinton in Toronto.
The major causes of the shortage of housing are current financial policies and low interest rates are causing the housing market to be an investment market for the rich. Houses should be for homes and not an investment product.
